If Hemingway and Jimmy Buffett opened a bar inside a vintage tackle box, you'd get Turk's. It's a sun-faded slice of salty heaven--equal parts dive bar, sea shack, and time machine. The drinks are cold, the fish 'n chips could sink a small dinghy (in the best way), and the walls are basically a museum curated by Poseidon and a Hollywood stuntman. Views? Unreal. Atmosphere? Like a Jimmy Buffet song grew a beard and started telling stories. No frills, all flavor, and a strong chance you'll leave with a sunburn and a new drinking buddy named Skip. Five stars. Bring shades and an appetite.

Camped at Doheny State Beach. Just beautiful. Biked over to Turks for a beverage with my wife. Sat outside with a front row seat for returning boats and a great inspection point of the fisherman's booty. Didn't look like they got much. Lots of dolphins out there I'm told. The drinks were strong and tasty. Ariel and Tristan were on top of their game. Biked back to the camp spot and the wife crashed at 8. I biked back to Turks. Cheri and Brandon were waiting for me. Brandon made a tasty drink for me, and I asked where a 2AM bar was. He said Hennessee's. It looked on the map like there may be a hill. He said it wasn't that big. He will pay for that next time I come on through. Hahahaha

Turk's is one of the last places in Dana Point that hasn't been sanitized for the yacht club crowd. While the rest of the harbor got polished up for weekenders who think owning a pair of Sperrys makes them a sailor, Turk's just is. No pretense, no bullshit, no $19 cocktails served in a mason jar. Just a bar--one that smells like whiskey, fried fish, and the kind of stories you don't tell your kids. I worked out of this harbor on the Fury, back when the docks were lined with real boats, real fishermen, and real work. Before Dana Point turned into a glossy, Instagram-friendly version of itself. But Turk's? It still feels like the old days. The walls are covered in history--photos of old-school captains, movie stars who lived hard, and fish that probably don't even exist anymore. The drinks are stiff, the seafood is solid, and if you don't know how to hold a conversation without looking at your phone, this isn't the place for you. It's a refuge. A bar for people who appreciate a cold beer after a long day, who don't need a curated dining experience, who understand that some places are sacred simply because they don't try to be anything but what they are. If the rest of Dana Point is a museum of what used to be, Turk's is still living it.

Local haunt that will be affected somehow (I am sure negatively by renovation in the name of "progress" [read as civil greed {tax money}]. Very local vibe enhanced by great bartenders who really appreciate the business from customers. Bayside location brings in many tourists but steady local business keeps it going and it will be a shame to see that environment change due to progress. The food is moderately OK but expensive for what it is. The bar crew is outstanding. Brandon is key for us and some other friends and hopefully he and the others will still be around after progress puts it stamp on the harbor.

I've been coming to Turk's for years now and have always loved its charm. It was my grandpa's favorite place to go when we visited Dana Point and since his passing, I always loved visiting. If you're looking for a high-end vibe on the water then this isn't the place for you. The charm at Turk's is similar to the feeling of sitting on an 1850s pirate ship as the walls and tables are coated in wood. Today our bartender was named Brandon and he was a cool guy. He told us a little about the history of the restaurant and had a great sense of humor. We ate lunch before coming, so we had a few drinks and some appetizers. We ordered the Grilled Cheese with Tomato Soup and Clam Chowder. The pickles that came with the dish were so good. I ended out ordering more because of how good they tasted. It was quite misty/cold outside, so the Grilled Cheese with Tomato Soup hit the spot. It wasn't the best Grilled Cheese with Tomato Soup, but it did hit the spot. Clam Chowder is a dish that most restaurants and a lot of them don't taste too good. Turk's Clam Chowder was truly great. It was the perfect consistency and taste without being too rich. If you like a dive barish place with a simple menu, Turk's is the spot for you. The charm of this place won't ever change and thats the beauty of it. My rating is 8.5/10.

Great location and fun locals vibe! Hubby liked his French Dip: tender and tasty beef with a flavorful au jus. I'd heard about, therefore, had to order their Famous Fish & Chips; the planks were generous in size and filling -- not my favorite, though (I'd prefer a crispier batter). We had to experience Turk's after I'd heard about their "strong" drinks; the drinks were good (although we've had stronger pours). Fun, energetic crew! We look forward to returning.

Looks like they've been here forever. The patina on the wood is testament to that. I had the blackened sea bass and the fish and chips, both excellent no complaints. This is the complete opposite of trendy. You want honest food with honest prices come here.
